Fear RP

Fear RP (Valuing Your Life)

What Is Fear RP?

Fear RP means valuing your character's life and acting the way you realistically would if you were in that situation in real life. Your character wants to survive, just like you do.

To your character this is life, not a video game. Act as if you don't have infinite lives, respawn points, or armor. When your character is in danger, they should be afraid and act accordingly.

The Golden Rule: Ask yourself, "What would I actually do in this situation if it were real?" Then roleplay that.

When Fear RP Applies:

Fear RP is required whenever your character faces a credible, immediate threat to their life where resistance would likely result in death or serious injury.

Common Fear RP Situations:

You're held at gunpoint with no reasonable escape ✅ You're outnumbered by armed individuals ✅ Someone has a weapon trained on you at close range ✅ You're being threatened with deadly force and compliance is your best chance of survival ✅ You're in a helpless position (injured, cornered, outmatched)

In these moments: Your character prioritizes staying alive over being brave, defiant, or heroic.

What Proper Fear RP Looks Like:

Scenario 1: Held At Gunpoint In An Alley

You're alone in an alleyway. Multiple people surround you with guns drawn. You have no weapon out, no backup, and no clear escape route.

Proper Fear RP:

  • Comply with their demands

  • Raise your hands

  • Don't reach for weapons or try to fight back

  • Cooperate to stay alive

  • Roleplay being scared, nervous, or trying to de-escalate

Violating Fear RP:

  • Walking away casually as if nothing is happening

  • Pulling out a weapon when multiple guns are already on you

  • Talking tough or provoking them when your life is clearly in danger

  • Running directly at armed attackers

Why: The average person would comply in this situation. They're helpless and outgunned. Survival instinct takes over.

Scenario 2: Someone Pulls A Gun On You In Your Vehicle

You're in your car, and someone approaches with a gun pointed at you.

You CAN speed away – this is a reasonable fear response (fleeing danger)

⚠️ BUT understand the risk:

  • You're likely to be shot at

  • Your character may be injured or killed

  • This is a calculated gamble, not a "get out of jail free" card

Violating Fear RP:

  • Casually driving away slowly as if there's no threat

  • Getting out of the car to fight when you're at gunpoint

  • Ignoring the weapon entirely

Why it's different: Being in a vehicle gives you an escape option that might justify the risk. Your character is making a split-second survival decision – but they're still in danger.

Scenario 3: Ordered Not To Touch Radio/Panic Button

A criminal or cop explicitly tells you not to touch your radio, phone, or panic button.

Proper Fear RP:

  • Do not hit your panic button

  • Comply with the order

  • Understand that disobeying could get you killed

Violating Fear RP:

  • Hitting the panic button anyway because "they might not notice"

  • Trying to sneak a radio call while at gunpoint

  • Ignoring the command because you think backup will save you

Why: If someone has a gun on you and explicitly tells you not to call for help, doing so anyway is risking your life. The average person wouldn't gamble with their safety like that.

Common Fear RP Violations:

Acting invincible or fearless when clearly outmatched ❌ Treating guns like they're not dangerousPrioritizing "winning" over survivingRunning directly at armed individualsPulling a weapon when multiple people already have guns on youTalking trash or being defiant when your life is in immediate dangerIgnoring threats because "it's just RP"

Nuance & Context Matter:

Fear RP isn't black and white. Context is important.

You CAN fight back or resist IF:

  • You have a reasonable chance of survival

  • You're not clearly outgunned or outnumbered

  • The situation allows for realistic counter-play (e.g., you have cover, backup is arriving, you have a weapon ready)

  • Your character has a strong motivation that outweighs self-preservation (protecting a loved one, etc.)

You CANNOT fight back IF:

  • You're unarmed and surrounded by armed people

  • Guns are already drawn and aimed at you

  • You have no backup, no cover, and no realistic escape

  • Resisting would result in certain death

Ask yourself: "Does my character have a realistic chance here, or am I just trying to avoid losing?"

Fear RP Is NOT:

Being a coward 24/7 – Your character can be brave, tough, or defiant in appropriate situations Never taking risks – Calculated risks are fine if they make sense for your character Giving up instantly – You can negotiate, try to talk your way out, or look for opportunities to escape

Fear RP IS:

Valuing your life realistically when faced with credible, immediate danger Acting like a real person would in life-or-death situations Prioritizing survival over pride, ego, or "winning" the scenario

Why This Rule Exists:

Without Fear RP, the server turns into a video game deathmatch where consequences don't matter. People would:

  • Run at armed criminals with no fear

  • Ignore threats because "I'll just respawn"

  • Treat every scenario like they're invincible

Fear RP creates:

  • Realistic, tense scenarios

  • Meaningful consequences

  • Better storytelling (characters who survive dangerous situations have richer arcs)

  • Immersion (the city feels real when people act like real people)

Consequences:

Violating Fear RP undermines immersion and ruins scenarios for everyone involved.

Disciplinary action will be taken based on severity:

  • First-time offenders may receive warnings and education

  • Repeated violations result in suspensions or bans

  • Extreme cases (blatantly ignoring Fear RP to "win") result in immediate action

The Bottom Line:

Your character wants to live. They have friends, family, goals, and a future. When faced with deadly force, they should act like it.

Stop treating danger like it's not dangerous. Start treating your character's life like it matters.
