Failure to Roleplay/Unrealistic RP

Fail RP (Failing To Roleplay) – Stay In Character

PHRP is a semi-realistic roleplay server that sits just on the border of realistic, which means you're expected to be roleplaying at all times when you're in the city. Your character should react, think, and behave in ways that make sense for a living, breathing person in a real-world setting.

Fail RP = Failing to maintain immersion, realism, or proper roleplay standards.

What Is Fail RP?

Fail RP occurs when you break character, act unrealistically, or fail to engage properly with roleplay scenarios.

Common Examples of Fail RP:

Breaking Character:

  • Going OOC (out of character) in voice chat or actions

  • Using game terminology in-character ("I'm gonna press E," "check your F1 menu," etc.), there are more creative ways to say these things.

  • Talking about the server, mechanics, or real-life while in-character

Unrealistic Actions:

  • Ignoring injuries (getting shot and acting like nothing happened)

  • Not fearing for your life in dangerous situations (see Fear RP section)

  • Acting invincible or superhuman without roleplay justification

  • Ignoring the consequences of your actions

Poor Engagement:

  • Not responding to others trying to roleplay with you

  • Giving minimal effort responses that don't contribute to the scene

  • Ignoring active roleplay scenarios happening around you

  • Standing around AFK in public areas without roleplaying

Misusing Mechanics:

  • Not roleplaying vehicle damage or injuries

  • Ignoring script features meant to enhance realism

  • Using mechanics in ways that break immersion

Roleplay At All Times – No Exceptions

When you're in the city, you ARE your character. This means:

✅ Responding to situations as your character would ✅ Using in-character language and reactions ✅ Engaging with others in meaningful, realistic ways ✅ Treating the city as a living, breathing world ✅ Maintaining immersion even when things don't go your way

You don't get to "turn off" roleplay because you're upset, disagree with something, or want to take a break. If you need a moment, remove yourself from active RP situations or log out – but never break character in the middle of a scene.

Roleplay First, Report Later

This is one of our core philosophies: If rules are broken during a scene, continue roleplaying and report afterward.

Even if someone else breaks a rule:

  • DO: Keep roleplaying and let the scene play out

  • DO: Handle it in-character as best you can

  • DO: Open a ticket after the scene concludes if needed

  • DON'T: Break character to call out rule breaks

  • DON'T: Stop the scene to argue about rules

  • DON'T: Go OOC to complain or demand a staff member

Why this matters: Breaking immersion to argue about rules ruins the experience for everyone involved. Staff can review logs, clips, and reports after the fact. Your job is to stay in character and keep the story moving.

The only exception: If something genuinely dangerous, harassing, or severely rule-breaking is happening (sexual assault RP, extreme harassment, etc.), you can break RP to remove yourself and report immediately.

Use Script Features To Enhance Roleplay

The server has built-in features and scripts designed to make roleplay more immersive. You're expected to use them.

Examples:

  • /me and /do commands to describe actions and environments

  • Injury/damage scripts to roleplay wounds realistically

  • Emotes and animations to bring your character to life

  • Phone, radio, and communication scripts for realistic interactions

  • Vehicle handling and damage systems

Don't ignore these tools. They exist to help you create better, more immersive roleplay.

Fail RP: Getting into a massive car crash and just driving away without using /me to describe injuries or damage ✅ Good RP: Using /me to roleplay checking yourself for injuries, limping, calling for help, etc.

What Good Roleplay Looks Like:

✅ Reacting realistically to situations (fear, pain, excitement, confusion) ✅ Giving detailed, thoughtful responses that add to the story ✅ Using /me and /do to paint a picture for others ✅ Respecting others' roleplay even when you disagree with their approach ✅ Staying in character no matter what happens ✅ Making choices based on what your character would do, not what benefits you as a player

Consequences:

Fail RP undermines the entire purpose of the server. Repeated violations will result in:

  • Warnings and education from staff

  • Temporary suspensions

  • Permanent removal if you consistently refuse to engage properly

We're all here to tell stories together. If you're not willing to commit to that, this might not be the right server for you.

The Bottom Line:

You applied here to roleplay. So roleplay. Stay in character, engage meaningfully with others, use the tools provided, and respect the immersive world we're building.

Roleplay first. Report later. Stay in character. Always.
