Server Restart Rule

Server Restart Rules – No Criminal Activity Window

The Rule:

NO criminal activity is permitted within 30 minutes before OR 30 minutes after a server restart.

This is a 60-minute total window (30 minutes on either side of the restart) where criminal RP is off-limits.

What This Means:

30 Minutes BEFORE Restart:

  • No robberies, heists, shootouts, or criminal scenes

  • Time to wrap up ongoing RP, store vehicles, and secure belongings

  • Focus on low-key, casual roleplay that can end quickly

30 Minutes AFTER Restart:

  • Allow time for everyone to load in, get situated, and connect properly

  • Server stability needs time to settle

  • Give players a chance to get their bearings before diving into intense RP

Why This Rule Exists:

1. Server Stability & Performance Restarts are necessary for server health. Complex criminal scenes with multiple players, vehicles, and mechanics strain the server right when it needs to shut down cleanly.

2. Fairness & Completion Criminal RP often takes significant time to play out properly. Starting a bank heist 20 minutes before restart means:

  • The scene can't be completed properly

  • People lose items, progress, or money due to the restart

  • Police/criminals get robbed of a full RP experience

  • Disputes arise over what should "count" after restart

3. Prevents Exploitation Some players might try to use the restart to their advantage:

  • Starting crimes knowing they'll "reset" soon

  • Escaping consequences by logging in late after restart

  • Using the chaos of restart to avoid capture

4. Gives Everyone Time To Prepare Players need time to:

  • Store valuable items safely

  • Complete transactions and secure money

  • Say goodbyes and wrap up casual RP

What You CANNOT Do During The Window:

Any criminal activity, including:

  • Robberies (stores, banks, players, etc.)

  • Drug sales or trafficking

  • Chop shop activity

  • Heists or organized crime

  • Shootouts, gang conflicts, or violence

  • Kidnappings

  • Any illegal activity that requires extended RP or has consequences

Starting scenes that can't finish: If there isn't enough time for a full scene to play out realistically before restart – don't start it.

Ask yourself: "Can this scene reasonably be completed, with all RP and consequences, before the restart?"

If the answer is no – save it for after the window.

What You CAN Do During The Window:

Casual, low-stakes roleplay:

  • Hanging out with friends at a bar, restaurant, or social spot

  • Light conversations and relationship building

  • Shopping or visiting businesses

  • Cruising around the city

  • Meeting new people

  • Planning future RP or jobs (in-character)

  • Wrapping up ongoing legal RP

Server maintenance tasks:

  • Storing items

  • Depositing money in banks

  • Organizing inventory

  • Securing valuables

  • Saying goodbyes before logging off

Preparation for post-restart:

  • Coordinating with your crew for jobs after restart (in Discord or IC)

  • Planning heists or criminal activity to execute once the window closes

  • Scouting locations or discussing strategies

There's plenty of RP to do – it just needs to be low-key and able to wrap up quickly.

Time Awareness:

Server restarts are announced in advance – pay attention to:

  • In-game announcements

  • Discord notifications

Plan accordingly. If restart is in 40 minutes, don't start a bank heist that takes an hour to complete.

Build buffer time into your plans. Things take longer than expected in RP – assume you need more time than you think.

What Happens If You Break This Rule:

Scenario 1: You start criminal activity too close to restart

  • The scene will likely be interrupted or incomplete

  • Any items, money, or consequences may not save properly

  • You may lose progress, loot, or face unexpected outcomes

  • Staff will not reverse consequences caused by ignoring this rule

Scenario 2: You intentionally violate the window

  • Disciplinary action for breaking server rules

  • No sympathy for lost items/progress – you were warned

  • Potential suspension if it's a repeated pattern

If the restart catches you mid-scene legitimately (announcements failed, you lost track of time, genuine mistake):

  • Do your best to wrap up quickly and safely

  • Open a ticket if there are issues with lost items/progress

  • Staff will review on a case-by-case basis

But intentionally ignoring the window? No leniency.

Special Circumstances:

"But we're in the middle of a chase/shootout when the 30-minute mark hits!"

If you're already deep in an active scene when the window begins:

  • Try to wrap it up as quickly and safely as possible

  • Don't drag it out or escalate further

  • Accept that the scene might not conclude perfectly

  • Both sides should work together to find a reasonable stopping point

This is why the rule exists – to prevent these awkward situations. Don't start what you can't finish.

Enforcement:

Staff monitors server activity around restarts. If you're consistently pushing the boundaries or ignoring the rule:

  • You'll be contacted and warned

  • Repeated violations result in disciplinary action

  • Using restarts to exploit or grief will result in harsher consequences

This isn't a suggestion – it's a rule.

The Bottom Line:

Plan your criminal RP around restart windows, not during them.

The 30-minute buffer on either side gives everyone time to:

  • Finish existing RP properly

  • Prepare for the restart

  • Load back in smoothly

  • Get ready for the next session

There are 23 hours in a day. You can spare 60 minutes (30 before, 30 after) to keep the server healthy and fair for everyone.

Use the downtime wisely – hang out, build relationships, plan your next move, or just chill. Not every moment needs to be high-stakes action.

Keep an eye on the clock, respect the restart window, and everyone has a better experience.
