Rules

Please make sure you take time to also review the Roleplay section in order to learn what we expect from the roleplay perspective. The whitelist application draws questions directly from the rules and roleplay guides.

Overview

Unfortunately, every city needs to have rules in place to guide players to the type of roleplay the city expects, and Point Hope RP is no different. Rules exist not to punish or limit players but to ensure that all players have an enjoyable experience while in the city. If you find the roleplay here to be too serious then I promise, there are a million other servers out there and one of them will fit what you are looking for.

Using this Guide

There is a lot of information in this guide. To make things simple we have broken things up in a modular way to make things easier to find. Please make sure that you read and review all sections of the Rules and Roleplay Overview.

PHRP Values

Roleplay

We expect all community members to roleplay to the highest possible standard and remain in character while in-game. A person must act in the confines of the character they have created and are currently playing as, if you wish to switch characters you must log out of the server and log back in as your new character.

Respect & Diversity

All community members must be respectful at all times while in-city or on our community platforms. This means that users must never be involved with or publish any content that is deemed racist, homophobic, sexist, prejudiced, or disrespectful. We also forbid the sharing or publishing of any sexually explicit content on any of our community platforms.

Fun

PHRP strives to create a city where players can enjoy their time. This city and community are meant to be places that everyone can enjoy their off time. At the end of the day, this is a game and we want people to enjoy their time playing it.

Section 3: LEO Rules

Dirty Cop RP

Dirty cop RP comes with a lot of responsibility. In order to be a dirty cop, you must open a ticket in Discord and discuss it with staff. It is very important to remember the Dirty Cop RP is not giving your gang a bunch of guns and armor (that's power gaming), it should always be done with an RP story in mind and not as a means to improve a group of players.

Off Duty RP

Cops are important to the city and burn out can be a real thing. We do not expect cops to always be on duty. You may have off duty RP as long as that off duty RP is not used to play as a criminal.

Police Mistreatment and Appeal

If you feel you have been mistreated in a police situation, use the proper channels in city (ie. speak to a supervisor, fill out a complaint form for that specific agency). Do not contact an admin unless the officer is clearly breaking a server rule. Take abuse of power as in character and report it as you see fit.

Crim-baiting

Police officers are prohibited from artificially creating opportunities to entice criminals into committing crimes. This includes camping known drug locations without investigative buildup, aggressively fishing for minor violations to escalate situations, or following suspicious individuals until they "slip up" without probable cause. Officers must respond to organic criminal activity and actual calls rather than manufacturing arrest opportunities. Police roleplay should focus on realistic investigations, community engagement, and allowing criminals space to develop their own storylines. this rule will result in removal from the police department and potential disciplinary action.

Spam Cuffing/ Tackle Cuffing

At no time should you use spam cuffing or the instant tackle/cuff "quirk" to cuff a player. This is considered a bug and doing so will be treated as abusing an exploit.

Section 4: VIP and Tebex Purchases

Tebex Purchases

These are 100% optional, you do not need to spend money on this server for use to keep it alive. It is appreciated if you do, and we can't express how much we appreciate it. The things you can buy on the Tebex store are meant to be purely cosmetic or provide some benefits to you. In no way will you ever need to use a Tebex store purchase to enjoy this city. Some things a priced kind of high, this isn't to gouge for money it is to A) Make sure we can afford to add what you are requesting and B) To prevent everyone from coming into the city and buying up a bunch of stuff we can't use or don't need.

Sale of VIP Benefits

If you want to sell or give away your VIP benefits go for it, yes, I know people will abuse this, but who cares. VIP exists for people who want to monetarily support the server, not hide things from all of the other players. I assume if you bought VIP it is because you want to help keep us online. Not everyone can do that. So thank you deeply for even the smallest assistance.

Section 5: Streamers

Expectations

Anyone in the DRP community can stream. There is no application process. All that we ask is that you open a ticket and let us know you are going to be streaming so that we can:

  • Give you the DRP Streamer Role in Discord

  • Add you to the Live Now bot

  • and so, our media team has your stream link so they can stop by from time to time.

It is important to remember that streamers must follow all of the same rules as the rest of the server.

Streamers should avoid showing secret/protected locations on their streams at all times.

Section 6: Reporting and Disciplinary Actions

Reporting Processes

DRP is not a ticket based city. However, with rules comes rule breaks and with rule breaks comes reports. In order to properly fill out a ticket to report a player these are the processes.

  • You must submit all evidence you have of the situation in either screenshots or clips. Clips must be unedited and must include sound. If you have to submit a lot of clips that is OK.,

  • Clips must have 2 minutes prior to the reported incident and 2 minutes after.,

  • Tickets with no evidence will be dismissed and should be handled in the city through RP.,

  • You should have all of your evidence ready to go and ready to add detail to your ticket when you open it.,

  • If you suspect a rule break you need to include the rule from the rule book that you believe was broken with the evidence.

Administrator Instructions/Rulings

If an administrator's ruling seems to have been made in error the dispute must be handled outside the game via discord by creating a staff complaint ticket. Please do not "DM" members of the Staff Team directly, use the proper channel within Discord, follow the proper chain of command or open a support ticket. Do not privately message the owner of the city to circumvent a disciplinary action.

Disciplinary Process

Philosophy At Diversion RP we do not believe in giving people goofy in city punishments like "coms" or "staff jail". We also believe that a rigid discipline process does not provide for a fair assessment of all situations. With this in mind our Diversion RP Staff Guide is available to everyone to review how staff will handle specific situations. We hope that this transparency helps players and staff know exactly how a situation is going to be handled.

We believe in a teach, correct, remove process that is applied to all members of the community equally. The same way a ticket is handled for a member is the same way it would be handled for a senior staff member. If you do get removed from the community, you will be told why and you will be given a time frame for reapplication if applicable.

DRP rules are subject to change, be added to, or be removed as the community grows. When rules are changed the community will be notified.
